Without Protection: Police end security for religious leaders

The police department has withdrawn their security guards from the homes as well as offices of religious leaders and scholars on Wednesday. They are also compiling a list of leaders and scholars who were provided with security. Additional IG Karachi confirmed that they were taking the guards away. One of the reasons behind this was the protest outside Governor House on Sunday in which the Shia community demanded that SSP Chaudhry Aslam be included in the FIR for the murder of Askari Raza. Allama Abbas Kumaili of the Jafferia Alliance Pakistan said that the guards were withdrawn without informing anyone and caused a lot of panic. Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat’s spokesperson said that he had no information about the matter.
