Case moved against Ayesha Malik’s family

Petitioner says his sons were abducted from Ahad Malik’s residence.

LAHORE:

A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking the recovery of two children and registration of cases against the family members of PML-Q leader Ahad Malik, including his daughter Ayesha Ahad Malik.

Yousaf Ahad Malik, Ayesha’s brother, termed the petition a tactic by the PML-N to attempt to silence his sister, who claims to be the wife of Hamza Shahbaz Sharif. Ayesha Malik has also moved a case against the police for harassing her and her daughter.

In the petition filed on Wednesday, Irfan Mehmood stated that he married Ambreen Hayat, daughter of Malik Muhammad Hayat, in 1997 and they had two children, Laraib Irfan and Abdul Saboor Irfan. The couple later divorced and he kept custody of the children, he said.

The petitioner said that in 2007, he sent his sons to the residence of Ahad Malik at 55-G Gulberg III so they could meet their mother, as per the orders of a guardian court. He said that his ex-wife abducted his sons and fled.

Since then, he said, the guardian court had issued at least eight notices to Ambreen and members of Ahad Malik’s family, including Ayesha, but they had not produced the children. The petitioner asked the court to summon the IGP and the chief secretary to explain why the court’s orders were not being obeyed.

He also asked that a case be registered against Ahad Malik, his wife, his son Yousaf and his daughter Ayesha, besides Ambreen, her sister Afshan and others.
