Cycling: Cavendish joins Team Sky

LONDON:
World road race champion Mark Cavendish, voted BBC Personality of the Year last month, is one of eight new signings at Team Sky for the 2012 season. Cavendish, 26, is one of 10 British cyclists now included in the squad. Team Sky came second in the International Cycling Union WorldTour team rankings last year and General Manager Dave Brailsford is confident of the group’s potential in 2012. “With Cavendish joining riders like Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Edvald Boasson Hagen, we have a hugely talented squad of riders with proven ability at the very highest level of our sport,” said Brailsford.
