The year 2011 was very dangerous for the workers of political and religious parties in Karachi. Over 150 workers were killed in target killing, according to the statistics by the interior ministry of Sindh. It said that 56 workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, 10 of Mohajir Qaumi Movement, 25 of Pakistan Peoples Party, 18 of Awami National Party, 10 of Sunni Tehreek and one each of Pakistan Muslim League, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Punjabi-Pakhtun Ittehad were the victims of targeted attacks.
