PPP Vice President: Record of Babar Awan’s nomination sought

Babar Awan had drafted the notification himself and made it public despite strong reservations of PPP senior leaders.

LAHORE:

A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday seeking record of the notification nominating Senator Babar Awan as the Pakistan Peoples Party vice president.

Petitioner Advocate Afaq Ahmad submitted that President Asif Ali Zardari had not issued any notification to the effect.

Babar Awan had drafted the notification himself and made it public despite strong reservations of PPP senior leaders, the petitioner said. He termed Babar Awan’s act a “conspiracy” against President Zardari.

PPP secretary general Jahangir Badr, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, PPP information secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira have been nominated respondents in the petition filed by Afaq Ahmad.
