Inflation indicator: SPI registers 0.7% increase

The weekly SPI covers 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups.

ISLAMABAD:
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the lowest income group up to Rs8,000 has registered an increase of 0.68% in the week ended on December 29 against the previous week, according to provisional figures of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The weekly SPI covers 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups. SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.7% as it went up from 174.60 points in the previous week to 175.83 points in the week under review. Prices of nine items decreased while 15 items increased and prices of 29 items remained unchanged.
