7-star McDonald flattens the Sixers

Melbourne storm into Big Bash League top-4 after convincing win.

Test-discard Andrew McDonald bludgeoned seven sixes in his 37-ball 60 to not only carry Melbourne Renegades past Sydney Sixers’ 161 but also in the top-four of the Big Bash League.

McDonald was ably supported by an equally aggressive Brad Hodge, who scored 72 off 51 balls, as the Sixers’ bowling attack, led by Brett Lee, failed to defend a decent total.

Earlier, Melbourne, with their bowling line-up including Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq, were carted around in the first half of the match. Moises Henriques top-scored for Sydney with 41 but Dirk Nannes and Shane Harwood grabbed two wickets each to limit the damage.
