Formula One: ‘RB8 will be an evolution’

Newey considers Red Bull’s car for the new season, the RB8.

LONDON:
British engineer Adrian Newey considers Red Bull’s car for the new season, the RB8, to be an evolution of his last three cars regardless of a change in regulations. A significant feature of Red Bull’s previous race-winning cars was the exhaust blown diffuser, which will be banned in 2012. However, Newey maintains that no drastic changes have been introduced to the car’s design. “The changes for next year are principally a ban on exhaust blown diffusers and a change to the nose height,” said Newey. “I don’t think that means you need to have a wholesale change to the underpinnings of the car. The RB8 will be the fourth generation of the car that started off as the RB5.”
