LPG prices raised again

Cylinders for domestic use now available for Rs170 per cylinder; commercial cylinders now cost Rs680 each.

ISLAMABAD:
Prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas were increased by 10 to 15 rupees per kilogramme on Monday.

Cylinders for domestic use will now be available for Rs170 per cylinder while those for commercial purposes will now cost Rs680 per cylinder.

This is the second raise in LPG prices this week. Earlier, on Thursday, domestic prices were raised to Rs120 from Rs60 per cylinder and commercial prices were increased to Rs480 from Rs240 per cylinder.

The major hike in gas prices is reportedly a combination of two specific charges – a 14% increase in gas prices determined by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), and the imposition of a Gas Development Surcharge (GDS) to generate funds for import projects, including the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline.
