KARACHI:
The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) kicked off its election campaign in Karachi on Sunday with promises of peace and development without any discrimination on basis of ethnicity. It chose Awami National Party’s (ANP) stronghold, Banaras Chokh, to gather supporters as senior leader thrashed the government for failing to provide basic utilities like gas and electricity to the people. JI Chief Munawar Hassan blamed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief for the country’s economic woes. The party also announced that some ANP leaders would be joining JI.
