‘Darya tamam shud’: Raza’s book talks about romance, socio-political issues

Hasan Abbas Raza’s latest poetry collection derives its name from a story of a mystic who drank an ocean dry.

ISLAMABAD:

Hasan Abbas Raza’s latest poetry collection “Darya tamam shud” derives its name from a story of a ‘darwaish’ (mystic) who drank an ocean dry.

At the launch of his collection on Friday, Raza said, “The title is reflective of our infinite wants that render all of nature’s bounty insufficient.”

The collection was launched at National Language Authority auditorium among friends, peers and supporters here on Friday. Singers Ustad Shaukst Manzoor, Muhammad Ali and Waqas Ahmed sang Raza’s poetry in ghazal form to everyone’s delight.

Raza noted that though this new collection is about socio-political issue and some romantic poems, there is a deeper maturity, understanding and observation present.

He pays meticulous attention to not only his writing but the presentation of the books. So the flap has been designed by his close friend Gulzar, while wife and fellow writer Rubina Shaheen has written the preface.
