34th Anniversary Rally to mark workers’ death

A rally was organised in Multan on Sunday to mark the 34th death anniversary of people who had lost their lives in the Colony Textile Mills incident. The rally was organised by Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party. It began at Chowk Nawa Shehr with participants carrying banners demanding that a memorial be built to honour the sacrifice of those workers. They chanted slogans agaisnt the governemnt for not implementing minimum wage legislation and demanded that the minimum wage be pegged with the price of a tola of gold. The participants of the rally urged the government to take steps to implement legislations on social security, employees old-age benefit institution and the workers welfare board.
