Boxing: ‘Pacquiao won’t wait for Mayweather’
Manny Pacquiao will not wait for unbeaten rival Floyd Mayweather to serve his jail sentence.
LONDON:
Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will not wait for unbeaten rival Floyd Mayweather to serve his jail sentence before he commits to his next fight, according to the Filipino boxer’s trainer Freddie Roach. While Mayweather’s jail term has been reduced from six months to 90 days, it is highly unlikely that the boxer will be able to commit to a bout before the latter part of 2012. Pacquaio, meanwhile, does not intend to be idle. According to Roach, Pacquaio’s promoter has already prepared a list of potential alternatives, including Lamont Peterson, Timothy Bradley, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez.
