Aqeel lands year-end tennis title
Pakistan number 1 records straight-sets win over Yasir in championship final.
KARACHI:
National champion and Pakistan’s top-ranked tennis player Aqeel Khan defeated his younger brother Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the Subhe Nau National Hardcourt Tennis Championship to land the year-ending tennis tournament.
The final was a closely contested match, unlike the last final the duo played a week ago, and Aqeel emerged victorious to bag the Rs15,000 prize-money.
In the ladies final, Maheen Dada demolished Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-0, not letting her opponent score even a single point in the one-sided final.
Meanwhile, Syed Zohair Raza won the boys under-18 title after registering a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 victory over Talha Zubair.
Dawar Rehan also had reason to celebrate after winning the U-14 mixed final by defeating Muhammad Azhar 7-5, 6-3.
