NAB to investigate vehicle registrations
A private firm in K-P is allegedly behind illegal registrations of 2,000 vehicles.

The Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) government has decided to move the case of illegal registration of vehicles by a private firm (EPH) Hoffman to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) due to irregularities in the registration process.
Provincial Minister of Excise and Taxation Liaqat Shabab, said non-custom paid vehicles and vehicles that were short on paying bank loans were also registered.
The irregularities were discovered when a case of a vehicle number with fake documentation was investigated. Three different inquiry committees found irregularities in registrations which could be upwards of 2,000 vehicles, according to Shabab.
The case was ultimately sent to the law department for further consultation. The department’s recommendation stated that the case be handed over to NAB, whom they found better equipped to handle such cases due to state of the art equipment and their cyber crimes unit.
The people of K-P are currently facing many problems because of the registration process involved.
The minister said that to cope with the situation there was a contingency plan to cater to the needs of the province.
EPH (Hoffman) is a private German based company, whose licence has not been cancelled. Decisions on this issue will be taken after the inquiry, in consultation with the chief minister, said Shabab.
