Memogate Case: Review petition on lie detector use dismissed
Petitioner had failed to convince the bench that a polygraph was a reliable method of discerning truth from falsehood.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed a review petition against its earlier order dismissing a petition that lie detector test be given in memogate investigation. The review petition was filed by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree, who had also filed the initial petition considering the use of a polygraph.
A law officer told the court that it lacked jurisdiction as the Supreme Court of Pakistan was already hearing the memogate case.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial then dismissed the review petition. The court had dismissed the earlier petition with the observation that the petitioner had failed to convince the bench that a polygraph was a reliable method of discerning truth from falsehood.
Barrister Jafree, in the initial petition, had named Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq and Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi among respondents.
