BAHAWALPUR:
A sanitation worker in Bahawalpur committed suicide on Thursday over nonpayment of salary for two months. Following the incident, Tehsil Municipal Authority staffers staged a protest and alleged that Malik Riaz and Nazir Masih, two sanitation inspectors, had intentionally withheld Rauf Masih’s salary for two months because the latter had refused to pay a bribe to the inspectors. The TMA workers boycotted work and demanded a thorough probe into the incident. They said that they would continue the boycott until an inquiry was conducted against the accused.
