PESHAWAR:

Sairajuddin Khan, Assistant Director at the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in the tribal regions, was gunned down by unknown men on Dora Road in Peshawar on Tuesday evening.

Khan was leaving a mosque after offering evening prayers when gunmen opened fire on him, police said.  SSP Operations Tahir Ayub told The Express Tribune, “Three gunshots were heard, and the official sustained injuries to his head and neck”.

Khan was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Sources said that Khan was from the Dalan area of Hangu district.

Eyewitnesses said that they saw three men firing at Khan but could not identify them because of darkness.

Earlier in the day, a sub-inspector posted at the Inquilab police station in the Badhber area was shot dead by gunmen.

Police officials said that they have launched a search operation but no arrest was made till the filing of this report. In October this year FIA’s  assistant director Ikramullah was also gunned down in the same area.
