Fifth convocation: 482 students graduate from Biztek

KARACHI:

Around 482 students dressed in black and brown robes graduated from the Institute of Business and Technology (Biztek) on Saturday. The university’s registrar Syed Kashif Rafi led them through the fifth convocation ceremony held at the main campus.

While talking about the importance of education, the chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Dr Javed Laghari, said that their main priority was to provide quality education. “For more than a decade, Biztek has been providing quality education in two specialised disciplines of management and computer sciences. We have also started a new faculty with a focus on media science,” said Rafi. “We started the journey with a single step and have covered a long distance in a relatively short span of time.”

Dr Abdul Karim Al-Alwani who had arrived from the Yanbu University College of Saudi Arabia, said that the HEC had really helped the private sector universities grow. He said that it was important to equip ourselves with knowledge and technology to solve complex and simple problems.

During the convocation, three of the most brilliant students were given gold medals. One of the proud achievers was Ayesha Munawar Mirza. “It’s the greatest feeling ever,” she said. “This honour is something that you carry for the rest of your life. I must confess that Biztek has given me the platform to utilise my capabilities to their highest possible level.”

However, there were students like Ali Raza and Nida Raheem who despite securing a 3.6 CGPA in business administration were unhappy with their job prospects. Raheem said that the corporate sector was filled with MBAs and firms wanted to hire experienced professionals not recent graduates.
