BARBADOS: West Indies batsman Kirk Edwards has come to the defence of captain Darren Sammy, saying the under pressure leader is a ‘fighting cricketer who gives his all’. Edwards, who performed well with the bat during the team’s tours of Bangladesh and India, said that Sammy was doing a decent job and it had to be borne in mind that he was leading a young team in demanding circumstances. “Sammy is a fighter,” said Edwards. “He is a cricketer whom everybody has a lot of negative things to say about. He’s always under pressure but I kind of admire the guy for the fact that he still goes out there and gives his all.”
