Football: Celtic trio called to represent Team GB
Three players belonging to the Scottish club have been invited to be a part of Great Britain’s team at the Olympics.
LONDON:
Three players belonging to Scottish club Celtic have been invited to be a part of Great Britain’s team at the 2012 London Olympics.
While Adam Matthews, 19, and James Forrest, 20, both meet the under-23 age requirement, Scott Brown would be one the three over-age players permitted for each squad at the Olympics. Brown has played for the Scotland national team on 27 occasions, while Forrest has four caps with Scotland and Matthews has made five appearances for Wales.
The trio’s invitation comes in spite of the fact that the Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland Football Associations are against the involvement of their players as representatives of a Great Britain team at the Olympics.
