KARACHI:

The lawyer of the nurse, allegedly raped by a doctor at JPMC, has submitted an application to withdraw from the case. He claimed that there is a contradiction in his client's statements, proving that the allegations against Jabbar are baseless.

However, the judicial magistrate in Karachi has ordered the police to present a fine against the doctor accused of raping a nurse. The police informed the court that the investigations are underway. They did not, however, request for extension in the remand.

The doctor, Abdul Jabbar was presented in the city court. The court has sent Dr Jabbar to jail on judicial remand till July 29.

Earlier, the trainee nurse had submitted a statement saying she was sexually assaulted by more than one person.

Providing the names of those involved to the investigation team, the nurse said other doctors were involved in the assault aside from the main accused in the case, Dr Jabbar Memon. She also denied earlier reports stating that she had jumped out of the window, saying that she had been thrown out by her assaulters.
