Busted: Three target killers caught

At least 15 suspects including alleged target killers and bank robbers were caught in raids carried out in the city

KARACHI:
At least 15 suspects including alleged target killers and bank robbers were caught in raids carried out in the city on Friday. The Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police arrested two men identified as Saeed Bazmi and Sabt-e-Rasool alias Khurram. According to DSP Altaf Hussain, both suspects were wanted by the police for their involvement in target killings and were affiliated with a political party but did not disclose which one.  Another target killer, Safdar alias Kala, was caught by the Surjani police in an encounter near sector 4B. He confessed to have killed over one dozen people including Jamaat-e-Islami activist Nazeer, two activists from Shabab Milli, four Pakhtoons and five land mafia activists. The police said that he was affiliated with a political party but did not disclose any further details.  In Lyari, six suspects were detained, believed to be affiliated with an extortionist group.  The Crime Investigation Department apprehended Ghulam Nabi alias Ali, Salim alias Sunni, Abdul Kabeer alias Raheel, Moeed Akhtar, Abdullah alias Khan and Abdul Kareem from Korangi and Sohrab Goth. The police claim that the suspects were part of an interprovincial group involved in bank robberies and kidnappings. CID SSP Fayyaz Khan said that the men were wanted for a Rs15 million bank robbery in Pannu Aqil. He added that they seized four hand grenades, three Kalashnikovs, a 7mm rifle and narcotics from them.
