LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday turned down a petition that had sought a restraining order against a sit-in planned by Jamaat-i-Islami on December 25.  Justice Umar Ata Bandial, however, directed the authorities concerned to ensure that the political activity does not affect public life in the city. He said that if Christmas activities were disrupted as a result of the sit-in, the CCPO would be held responsible. Advocate Nadeem Chaudhry had filed the petition against the JI sit-in on Ferozepur Road. He submitted that the Christian community would be celebrating Christmas on December 25. The sit-in would cause traffic problems and affect Christian celebrations. The petitioner had prayed that the party be restrained from holding its dharna on December 25.
