Police performance: On close inspection

24 police stations go without inspection for one-and-a-half year.

FAISALABAD:
Despite instructions that all police stations be inspected regularly, 24 police stations in the district have not undergone a thorough inspection for the past one and a half years.

City Police Officer (CPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana chaired a meeting expressing concern over the issue on Friday and accused police officers of negligence with regards to performing their duties in this regard.

The CPO also issued four reminders.

Kamyana said that the inspection of Batala Colony and Chak Jhumra police stations was the responsibility of former senior superintendent (SSP) (Operations) Madina Town and that the Sahianwala police stations were the responsibility of SSP (Investigation). The CPO chalked out a detailed list of duties for station in-charges.

He ordered that the inspections be completed within the next two weeks and that relevant reports be filed as soon as possible.

“I have ordered inspections and each police station in-charge will be responsible for fulfilling the task in time. Those who fail to do so will be suspended,” he said.

“It is shameful that none of these stations has undergone an inspection in almost 2 years.

The situation needs to be addressed as soon as possible and the police officials need to do their due diligence,” he added.
