SIALKOT:

An infant, Ali Hassan, burned to death on Thursday in Islampura, Daska, in a fire caused by a candle left burning in the room by the family.

Rescue 1122 officials said the candle must have fallen on the bed where the child was sleeping and set it on fire.

They quoted the family as saying that Barkat Ali, a labourer at Daska sabzi mandi, was at work and his wife had gone to leave her other children to school when the accident took place.

The residents of the area staged a protest demonstration following the area and chanted slogans against the Gujranwala Electric Power Company, accusing them of having the accident due to frequent power outages.
