Judiciary's purpose to provide timely justice: Chief Justice LHC
Justice Saeed says lawyers' problems will be resolved. Bar and bench must work together to dispense justice.
MULTAN:
Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court Azmat Saeed (LHC) requested lawyers on Wednesday to not offer his untimely funeral prayers by not serving the real purpose of the judiciary.
Justice Saeed was addressing the annual lunch by the High Court bar in Multan. He stressed upon the judiciary’s real purpose as facilitating the people of Pakistan and provide them timely justice.
“Bar and bench should work together to provide rights to the real stake holders of the judicial system, who are the people of Pakistan,” said Justice Saeed.
He said that bar and bench are indispensable and one cannot exist without the other if they were separated.
“Independence of bar and judiciary go together and we have to protect each other,” he said.
Speaking about Punjab Law Minister Rana Sananullah’s endowment to the Faisalabad Bar, Justice Saeed assured the lawyers that he would not let anyone discriminate amongst the lawyers.
“If Rana Sanaullah had endowed checks to the bar of Faisalabad, then he has to give them to all the bars in Punjab otherwise lawyers of Punjab will be on the roads. People of Pakistan today have learnt about their rights and today they look towards the judiciary in the absence of justice and on the inavailability of the justice, “he added.
He added that lawyers' problems will be resolved in due time and requested the lawyers to be custodians of the judiciary by not harming its decorum. Justice Saeed stressed upon his request by quoting the adage 'not to offer his untimely funeral prayers', inferring not to harm his office by not serving the real purpose of the judiciary.
"Our real purpose should be the facilitating the people of Pakistan to provide them timely justice"
Speaking at the lunch, Chaudhry Sagheer Ahmed, President High Court Bar Multan said that bar and bench will always work in coordination.
Meanwhile Arbab Ali Syed, President District Bar Multan speaking on the place allocated for the Danish school system said that it should be instead endowed to the lawyers’ colony.
Later, Justice Saeed also attended the annual dinner organized by the District Bar Association Multan and awarded shields to lawyers for their services to the bar and achievements.
The CJ further said, ”We have to upgrade our system and our learning by investing in human resource. We will organize training schedules and workshops for judges and lawyers. However we have to return to books, the asset of learning and enhancing our skills. We are resolving our problems from the patterns of 19th century in the 21st century. We have to minimize this gap by updating ourselves with technology and knowledge.”
