Citizens of Karachi are in a state of panic as the situation in the city remained tense late Saturday night. The death toll from target killings rose to 16 in the last 24 hours, despite heavy deployment of police and rangers.
So far, 38 people have lost their lives in the recent wave of target killings which began on Tuesday last week. Areas most affected by target killings are Shah Faisal Town, Sarjani Town, Pehlwan Goth, Malir and Gulistan-e-Johar.
So far, no arrests have been made in this regard, however, both the MQM and ANP have blamed each other for the rising tide of violence. In a damage control move, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that no operation will be conducted against any political party.
