The Anti-Extremist Cell (AEC) of the Crime Investigation Department claimed to have nabbed the ringleader, and five others, of Al-Mukhtar, a group which they believe is associated with the Taliban.

According to AEC officials, Al- Mukhtar was involved in at least eight terrorist cases, which include the attack on a rummy club in April which around 22 people died and 50 were injured.
The group was also involved in other attacks on wine shops, gambling dens and also a cinema house, disclosed the AEC officials at a press conference on Friday afternoon. The arrested men include the ringleader, Asghar, alias Omar, and five others, Zahid, alias Osama, Abid, Usman, alias Hamza, Shakir and Ali Akbar.
The AEC also found 50 kilogrammes of explosives, three hand grenades, 10 mini-rocket grenades, three remote-controlled bombs, five kilogrammes of ball bearings and nut bolts, 20 feet of detonating wire, four remote-controlled detonating switches, five kilogrammes of locally produced bombs, 30 litres of hydrogen peroxide, five Kalashnikovs, a TT pistol and over 100 arms.
