SIALKOT:

Two people were shot and injured in Kotwali police precincts during a robbery on Thursday.

Shabbir and Liaqat, employees at a currency exchange dealer’s shop, were deprived of Rs200,000 in the robbery.

The men had withdrawn the money from a bank and were carrying it to the currency exchange dealer’s shop when two unidentified robbers intercepted them.

The robbers shot Shabbir and Liaqat when they resisted the robbery attempt.

The robbers then snatched the money and fled. The injured were taken to a hospital where their condition was described by doctors as being “out of danger”.

Dozens of traders later staged a protest demonstration against the incident.

They criticised the police for their failure to provide security to their businesses.

They demanded that the robbers be immediately arrested.
