UAF delegation returns from India visit
University teams up with Indian varsity to cultivate new crops near border.
FAISALABAD:
Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana, India and University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) have decided to cultivate new varieties of various crops near the border in a bid to increase technology transfer.
In this regard, a nine-member delegation of University of Agriculture Faisalabad, led by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, visited Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana, India and attended the alumni meeting.
In the five-day visit, the two universities agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture to flourish the sector in both countries. The delegation also visited Chandigarh and witnessed various floriculture and horticultural crops.
The two groups also discussed the collaboration of landscape and horticulture while Dr Faqir Mohammad Anjum talked about a future venture in food technology.
They also stressed the need to set up a technology park on both sides of the border to learn from each others experience.
UAF Vice Chancellor called for cementing ties between the agriculture especially in the field of agriculture as both sides enjoy the same soil structure.
They also acknowledged success stories of Pakistani seedless kinnow and cotton productivity as well as Indian’s wheat production efficiency.
