‘An Aura of Mysticism’: Artist looks at saints, women of Thar

LAHORE: Painter SA Noory’s show, An Aura of Mysticism, opened at the Native Art Gallery on Tuesday. Noory’s works are miniatures and he uses water colour on paper. The Karachi based artist, in his latest work, captures the Thar desert and its surrounding life.“Noory’s canvases are hugely attractive due to his unique representation of the subject matter,” said art critic Shamim Akhtar. “With masterful strokes, he beautifully portrays the life of women of Thar as they go about their daily routines and the saints of Sindh in their humble submission to the Divine,” continued Akhtar. Akhtar added that although Noory had worked on traditional lines, he showed his innovation when it came to painting the gypsies of Thar. Since 1988, Noory has exhibited in over 25 shows all over the world. The show runs till December 24.
