Khosa’s Appointment: AG’s help sought

The court asked both law officers to appear in court on December 20.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought assistance from the Punjab advocate general and a deputy attorney general to decide the maintainability of a petition seeking disqualification of Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa. The court asked both law officers to appear in court on December 20. Petitioner Advocate Afaq Ahmad submitted a petition saying that the governor was violating his constitutional role by taking actively participating in political activities. The petitioner also said that the governor was allocating a large portion of government funds to southern Punjab because he’s from the area. He said that another political motive behind the allocation was PPP’s support for a separate South Punjab province. The petitioner prayed to the court to take notice of the governor’s “illegal acts” and declare him ineligible to hold the office.
