QUETTA: Chief Justice (CJ) of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) Justice Qazi Faez Isa paid glowing tributes to the late Habib Jalib advocate, also a former senator, during a full court reference held on Friday.

Addressing a gathering of lawyers, Justice Isa said that Jalib had rendered his services not only for Balochistan but also for the people of Pakistan.

“Jalib was a man of integrity and played a vital role against the menace of target killing and other inhuman acts,” he said.

The CJ said that Jalib was assisting the court in cases of target killings, missing persons and proliferation of weapons. He added that target killing is a cowardly act and that Jalib was a brave man who did not carry arms and refused to seek protection despite receiving several life threats.

“I was surprised by Jalib’s energy. After attending the court, he used to lead protest rallies highlighting humanitarian issues.”

Justice Isa said that Jalib always responded calmly and in a composed manner even during hostile and rigorous court proceedings.

The CJ requested that an educational trust should be established for the children of slain lawyers so that they can continue their education.

He also directed that all books compiled by Jalib should be kept in the library of the BHC. It would help the lawyers about the personality and thoughts of Jalib Baloch.

Earlier, President of the Balochistan Bar Association Baz Mohammad Kakar, paid tribute to Jalib for his services to the poor. Kakar said that Jalib had no lust for money nor was he ever involved in any form of corruption.
