Political Career: Naheed ‘disappointed’ with Bilawal
“It's disappointing that Bilawal kicked off his political career with meetings with Chaudhry's of Punjab,” Naheed Khan
LAHORE:
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will have to decide whether he wants to follow in his father’s footsteps or those of his mother and grandfather, said Naheed Khan on Tuesday. The former political secretary to (late) Benazir Bhutto was addressing a press conference at a PPP member’s house. “It is disappointing that Bilawal kicked off his political career with meetings with Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi,” she said. Shujaat’s father bought the pen with which Zulfiqar Bhutto’s death orders were signed and Benazir named Elahi as one of the people who wanted her dead. Khan said that it was demoralising to see the president, prime minister, Foreign Office and Army having different stances on Pakistan’s foreign policy. “Governor [Latif Khosa] says that those responsible for Benazir’s murder have been arrested. But where are they and what are their names?” Khan said. Safdar Abbasi also spoke after Khan. “No one knows who is making the party policy and no one can defend the party’s decisions,” he said. He termed Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s decision to join PTI “a mistake”.
