Quaid Trophy final to be played under lights
PCB to use pink ball, to take place from December 20.
KARACHI:
Pakistan will stage the final of their premier first-class tournament under floodlights for the second time as part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) efforts to introduce day and night Test matches.
A senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said that the five-day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy final would be played from December 20 at the National Stadium with pink balls being used in the match.
“The decision to make the Quaid Trophy final a day-and-night affair has been taken because the ICC is keen to see its member countries experiment with using the pink ball and have day and night matches,” said Saqib Irfan, a senior domestic cricket official.
The PCB also held the previous final of the Quaid Trophy under lights earlier this year with orange balls being used for the match, a decision appreciated by the ICC.
