Karate: Pakistan win Asian Shidokan contest
Representatives from Japan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and hosts Pakistan participated in the event.
KARACHI:
Pakistan clinched the Third Asian Soeno Samurai Shidokan Full-Contact Championship after securing three gold medals at the KPT Sports Complex, Karachi. Representatives from Japan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and hosts Pakistan participated in the event. The home side fielded 16 karatekas, which was the maximum of contestants from a team. Shahzada Arsalan (60 kilogramme), Syed Gul Shah Ali (65kg) and Mohammad Rizwan (84kg) won gold medals in their weight categories. Sri Lanka claimed second position in the competition while Afghanistan finished third.
