Lawlessness: Man dies from alleged police beating
‘Police wanted to recover woman who married a nephew of the deceased’.

A Jampur resident died allegedly from beating by policemen raiding his house along with men from the family a woman who had married a nephew of the deceased without her family’s consent.
Muhammad Ramazan, son of deceased Ahmed Leghari, told The Express Tribune that several policemen from Kot Chattha police station and brothers of the woman – Amit Kumar, Ajit Kumar and Ghansham – broke into their house and started beating his father on finding no trace of his cousin, Tariq Leghari who had married Dr Gul Sania, a Dharki resident, without permission of her family.
Ramazan said the raiding team fled the scene when his father fell unconscious.
Kot Chattha SHO Muhammad Ramazan denied that any team from his police station had raided at the said house. He said he did not know whether or not a police team from Sindh had raided the house.
Jampur SHO Ashraf Qureshi too denied that anyone from his police station had a raided the house.
He, however, said that report was received at the police station about a police party raiding a house. He said he would investigate the incident if a complaint was filed in that regard.
Dr Sania had earlier converted to Islam and contracted marriage with Tariq Leghari, a colleague at Dharki district headquarters (DHQ) hospital.
