Infrastructure: Boat bridge inaugurated

Cost of bridge estimated by the Engineering Department at Rs9.1 million, project was completed in Rs7.1 million.

RAJANPUR:
The commute between Mathan Kot and Chachra Sharif will be reduced by 80 kilometres with the inauguration on Monday of a bridge formed by placing steel boats side by side in River Indus.  DCO Rajanpur Ghazi Amanullah and DPO Rana Ahmed Hasan inaugurated the facility. They said the cost of the bridge had been estimated by the Engineering Department at Rs9.1 million however the project was completed in Rs7.1 million. He said with the bridge open for public use the distance between the Mathan Kot and Chachra Sharif will reduce by 80 km. DPO Rana Ahmed Hasan said police check posts would be set up along the bridge to ensure a safe journey for the commuters.
