Snooker: Ronnie cleans up Davis in first round
Ronnie O’Sullivan launched his campaign for a fifth UK Championship title with a 6-1 win over Steve Davis
LONDON:
Ronnie O’Sullivan launched his campaign for a fifth UK Championship title with a 6-1 win over six-time former champion Steve Davis in the tournament’s first round. Davis claimed the first frame with a fine century, but it was all one way traffic from thereon as O’Sullivan racked up the next six frames. “Steve has got so much class but he’s probably not playing with as much confidence as he used to,” said O’Sullivan. “I think that’s the key to this game.” Meanwhile, world number one Mark Selby brushed aside Ryan Day 6-0.
