Muharram: Security beefed up for processions
Police have been directed to conduct thorough checking and screening.
LAHORE:
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir has ordered strict implementation of a three-pronged approach to security protocol during Muharram processions.
Police have been directed to conduct thorough checking and screening of all vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws. Tahir said that Muharram processions would be provided with comprehensive security cover from all sides including rooftops, side lanes and adjoining roads that will be blocked using barbed wire. Effective patrolling would protect sensitive areas. Security would also be provided to women’s processions. He directed that bomb disposal squads will accompany ‘mohalla’ and peace committees’ members.
