PIA fly high in Quaid Trophy

A 9-wicket win takes them top of the points table.

PIA went top of the standings in Quaid Trophy after a nine-wicket win over third-placed ZTBL in Lahore yesterday.

The win was made possible after a four-wicket haul by Ali Imran contained ZTBL's batting line-up, restricting the target to just 11 runs. The win was achieved in the fifth over of the innings, taking PIA top with 51 points.

Sialkot edged out Islamabad by six runs on the final day of their match with Prince Abbas, Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Imran dismissing Islamabad who were just one hit away from sealing the result in their favour.

Needing 310 to win, Islamabad, riding on Afaq Rahim's 108, fell agonisingly close to the target and helped Sialkot edge past Abbotabad in the table.

Meanwhile, NBP and HBL drew their ninth-round match at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad after Kamran Akmal's 110 gave his side a lot of batting practice.

HBL were dismissed for 305 in their first-innings as NBP opted to pile on the runs and ended with 484 for six at stumps.
