Pakistan’s lone player in the 6-Red World Snooker Championship Mohammad Sajjad has been knocked out by England’s Dave Harold in a one-sided 6-1 defeat in the last-32 round in Bangkok.

The 44-year-old Harold started with winning the first two frames 37-32, 41-8 before Sajjad clinched the next and his only frame 38-1. Harold, also known as Stoke Potter, gave away no chance to the Asian championship finalist as he won the next four frames 40-14, 52-0, 42-9, 39-0 to confirm his last-16 place.

The Pakistan number one, who lost two matches on his way to the second round, however, did beat former Asian champion home cueist Supoj Saenia and UAE’s Mohammed Al Joakar in the first round.

PBSA assured of cash reward for Sajjad

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports has assured the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) that it would assist in acquiring a cash reward for Sajjad for his impressive performance in the Asian Championship earlier this year.

Sajjad was runner-up in the event that was held in Thailand after which the PBSA asked the sports ministry for a cash reward of Rs300,000 that is yet to be released.
