UAE Expo to be made an annual event: diplomat

Tremendous response witnessed from local businessmen.

KARACHI:
United Arab Emirates (UAE) Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna, after witnessing the overwhelming response, has said that UAE Expo 2011 – Magnificent 7, will be made an annual event in Pakistan. This was disclosed by Director of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Foreign Trade, UAE, Mohammad Nasser Hamadan.

“Our businessmen are very happy. This is beyond our expectations as most of the companies are already involved in serious talks with Pakistani businessmen for possible ventures. There is a lot of interest from Pakistani companies for collaboration with their UAE counterparts,” he said while talking to media at the conclusion of the UAE Expo at Karachi Expo Centre, on Friday.

Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority Business Development Manager Imran Hussain said that “750 Pakistani businessmen have visited our stall during the first two days”.


Over 1,300 Pakistani companies are operating in RAK free zone which has about 7,000 units. “We want to expand this number and hope that lot of Pakistani companies will be coming to the zone, after UAE Expo 2011,” he added.

Tamer Ahmed Zaki Ahmer of Sharjah Auto Park said that his company has received more than 600 business inquiries and half of them are serious businessmen, who want to set up their business in their park.

Western Region Development Council- Al Gharbia Director Investment Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei said that UAE Expo has served as a good platform for both UAE and Pakistani businessmen to strike business deals. He said that most of the inquiries that were directed at them were for telecommunication, food processing and IT.
