Hockey: Indian players pull out of league
The six players will join the national camp in Delhi for the Olympic qualifiers instead.
NEW DELHI:
The multi-million dollar unsanctioned World Series Hockey (WSH) received a big jolt as six top Indian players withdrew from the league, which kicks off on December 17. The six players will join the national camp in Delhi for the Olympic qualifiers instead. “We’re not playing in the WSH,” read the players’ statement. “We signed a contract with the WSH under the impression that it’ll not force us to play during the national camp.” The players, however, requested the organisers to postpone the event.
