Ambassador Sherry: Petitioner withdraws appeal
Withdraws petition as Sherry had resigned from her National Assembly seat.
LAHORE:
Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed as withdrawn an application challenging appointment of Sherry Rehman as Pakistan’s new ambassador to United State.
On Wednesday, the petitioner Muhammad Azhar Siddique appeared before the court and requested to withdraw his petition as Sherry had resigned from her National Assembly seat. The court accepted his plea. The judge said that courts couldn’t decide a constitutional issue on a miscellaneous application. The petitioner-counsel may file a separate writ, the judge said.
