December bidding: Japan expresses interest in Thar coal
Two Chinese companies and one Korean company have showed interest in participating in bidding of more blocks.

Sindh Coal and Energy Department Secretary and Thar Coal and Energy Board Managing Director Younus M Dhaga told The Express Tribune that the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan had contacted the Sindh government and expressed interest in the Thar coal project.
He said that a special briefing about the project had been given to the Japanese ambassador and the experts of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), following which the JICA expressed their interest in the project.
Two major Chinese investment groups have also already shown their interest to invest $9 billion in the Thar coal projects. Furthermore, a Korean company has also assured participation in the bidding of more blocks due in December.
