LAHORE:
Punjab Police will receive four bomb disposal vans, worth four million euros, from the European Union early next year, five-member delegation of law enforcement agencies from the European Union told Inspector General Javed Iqbal on Tuesday.  The IG was told that each van was fitted with the latest equipment that could help law enforcement agencies in defusing or transporting a bomb. The vans are also equipped with special chambers in which controlled explosions can be carried out in case of an emergency. They will be handed over after a three-week training course being conducted by the European Union trainers in January 2012. The meeting was attended by Additional IG (Training) Sarmed Saeed, Additional IG (CID) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera and Elite Force DIG Zulfiqar Cheema.  The delegation included Tijn Van Winsen, Elisabeth Loacker, Pierre Mayaudon, Michael Merker, and Simona Gilotta.
