Don't forget your goat: Korangi residents get their hands on some 'free meat'

Unidentified men dump goat carcasses at garbage disposal site.

Express November 29, 2011

KARACHI: A truckload of intact goat carcasses was dumped at a garbage disposal spot on the Korangi Causeway in Karachi on Tuesday.

The carcasses were wrapped in cloth and had pink stickers stuck to the meat. The men responsible for dumping the sacrificial animals at the spot fled before they could be identified.

As reports of the abandoned carcasses circulated in the area, residents flocked to the garbage dump and made away with as much meat as they could get their hands on. While one person loaded an entire goat carcass into his car, some scavengers stuffed smaller pieces of meat into plastic bags.

As the crowd around the garbage dump swelled, traffic came to a standstill on the Korangi Causeway.

It has not yet been determined whether the meat is fit for consumption.

Isn't it obvious that if they were dumped at the garbage disposal spot it is NOT fit to eat?! Otherwise, why would anyone throw it in the first place? wouldn't the people who threw it like to take it to their homes?!

where is the common sense?!

Its all good. All meat in Pakistan is fit for consumption. We have no qualms about it. Its a pity that despite tall claims there is no authority to keep tabs on the quality and hygiene aspect of the meat sold.
