Threat Of Encroachment: KDA still defunct under restored system

The KDA has been working as an urban development and town planning agency.

KARACHI:
The Sindh government has yet to decide the fate of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) despite the restoration of the Commissionerate system and the local bodies system of 1979. The KDA has been working as an urban development and town planning agency and dealt with land utilisation and revenue issues across the city before the introduction of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO) 2001. However, after the introduction of SLGO 2001, KDA became defunct and was incorporated into the city district government as a wing of its land revenue department.
